Sour Cream Apple Pie, preserved in the Brown Family Cookbook 2020.

Ingredients
- 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- 2. Peel and cut 4-6 Granny Smith apples (4 apples if using a regular pie pan, 6
- apples if using a deep dish pie pan) and sauté them for about 7 minutes over
- medium heat with 1/2 a stick of butter, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 1/2 a cup of
- sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
- 3. Combine the following ingredients in a bowl and whisk until smooth to make the
- sauce -
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoons white flour
- 1 large egg lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 4. Once apples are done sautéing, pour off all butter/juice and let cool (or let them
- sit in the pan until completely cool, they re-soak up most of the juice, then just

pour off any excess. This takes longer but works). Once cool, pour into bowl with sauce mixture.

One apples and sauce are mixed together, pour them into the pie crust (can

make your own pie crust or buy a pillsbury pie crust at the store and put it in the pie pan, crimp the edges, no need to prebake it).

Then make and pour the nut crumble on top using the following:

1 cup chopped walnuts 3/4 cup brown sugar 1 tablespoon of cinnamon 1/2 cup white flour Cut in 1 stick of cold butter (Need a little less of everything if not using a deep dish pie pan)

Bake for 50 minutes at 350 degrees. Let cool for 2 hours before serving.
