Mel and I like this pizza dough recipe and use it when we make our home made pizzas. It’s pretty hardy, and can really stand a lot of toppings. Makes 2 crusts.
01
Ingredients
- 3 cups warm water
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 T sugar
- 2 T yeast, flour, cornmeal
- +Add 2 cups flour, one at a time, to the above ingredients, using a wire whisk

Let mixture cool slightly, then add 2 T yeast. Keep adding flour till stiff; turn and knead till elastic about 5 minutes. Let rise in oiled bowl. Punch down and form into large rectangle - transfer to a cookie sheet that has been sprinkled with about 1-2 T yellow cornmeal. Top with sauce and all desired toppings (mom likes pepperoni, sausage, green peppers, onions, mushrooms and pineapple)- We also uses Monterey Jack cheese with her pizza instead of mozzarella, it’s less stringy. Bake on Bottom rack of oven at 425 degrees for 17-23 minutes - cheese should be bubbly. Pizza is done when the ‘shine is not on the melted cheese.’
