This is the go-to brownie recipe in my family. We love the combination of maple and chocolate, and like thick, fudgy brownies. These come together quickly and are really popular with friends.
01
Ingredients
- ¾ cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup butter
- ½ tsp. Salt
- 1 ¾ cup sugar
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup walnuts (optional)
- 2 tsp. Vanilla
- 1-2 ts. Maple extract

Heat oven to 350, or 325 if it is a glass pan. In a large microwavable bowl combine the butter and cocoa. Microwave till butter is melted and then stir until cocoa and butter are smooth. Add sugar. Mix. Add eggs and extracts. Mix. Stir in flour, and salt, then nuts and chips. Spread mixture evenly in a greased 9x13 dish. Bake for 28-35 minutes (maybe less if using convection oven) or until fork comes out with fudgy crumbs. Do not overbake. These are great with vanilla icecream and chocolate sauce or just alone.
